For Schools & Groups

Practice accountability,
built for your whole group.

Schools, ensembles, youth programs and teaching studios all use Octero to keep members motivated between sessions. You get visibility into how everyone is practising, and the privacy controls to do it safely.

Why groups use Octero

Whether you run a school program, conduct an ensemble or coach a handful of private students, the things that matter are the same.

A music lesson in progress

Real visibility into practice

A live feed of every session from every member, with automatic playing-vs-resting detection. No timers, no manual logs, no chasing journals.

A shared sense of accountability

Group leaderboards, weekly goals and a session feed turn solo practice into a shared pursuit. Members push each other so you don't have to.

Privacy controls when you need them

Premium Private groups keep members hidden from anyone outside the group. Admins invite people directly, control who can comment or post, and reset passwords when a student gets locked out.

A dashboard for the people running the program

Instead of wondering who is putting in the work, you get a clear, at-a-glance view of every student's practice across the last 30 days, and the patterns behind it.

Group metrics at a glance

Total sessions, total playing time, average session length, and average sessions per active player per week, with week-on-week change so you can tell if engagement is trending up or down.

A practice matrix for every student

One row per member, one square per day. Streaks, missed days and patterns of effort jump out without you having to dig.

Sortable by what matters this week

Sort by total time, playing time or sessions to surface who is leading the group and who might need a nudge before the next lesson.

Custom challenges for your group

Set a challenge that fits what your group is working on this term. Members opt in, see each other's progress, and chase the finish line together.

Pick a target that suits the goal

Run a 20 x 10-minute session push before a concert, a 100-session century to build a habit, or a daily-streak challenge to lock in consistency.

Built-in motivation

Progress, joiners and recent activity all show up in the app so members can see how the group is tracking and where they sit in it.

Stack them through the year

Run different challenges for different seasons or different sections. Keep things fresh without having to invent something new every week.

What members and admins get

The same automatic practice tracking your members already love, with the visibility and controls you need on top.

Automatic, effortless tracking

AI detects the instrument and tracks playing vs resting time automatically. No timers, no manual logs, no chasing journals.

Weekly goals that stick

Set weekly practice targets that appear on every member's home screen, with progress bars and streaks to keep them honest.

Friendly competition

Group leaderboards turn practice into a shared pursuit. Members push each other; you spend less time motivating and more time teaching.

Detailed insights

Practice matrix, monthly activity, instrument breakdown, time-of-day patterns. The data is there when you need it.

Common questions from schools and group leaders

How do you protect the privacy of under-18 students?

Premium Private groups are designed for exactly this. Members are hidden from anyone outside the group, you invite them directly rather than relying on public signup, and you can restrict commenting, posting and sharing to keep the environment focused and safe.

How does pricing work for Premium and Premium Private groups?

Pricing depends on the number of members and the features you need. Email sales@octero.app with a rough idea of your group size and we'll get you a quote within a business day.

Do students need to pay for their own Octero subscription?

No. When a school or ensemble is on a Premium or Premium Private plan, members get access to the relevant features as part of the group, with no separate subscription to manage.

Can I move an existing free group up to Premium later?

Yes. Get in touch with sales and we'll help you upgrade without losing any of the group's history.

How do members join a group?

All Octero groups are invite-only. Admins add members directly, or share an invite for people to accept. Nobody can join a group without being added by an admin.

Who can hear the practice recordings?

Only the people each member chooses to share with. Members always control who hears their own recordings. Joining a group does not automatically expose them.

What instruments are supported?

Octero works across a wide range of instruments. Strings, brass, woodwind, percussion, voice and more. It's designed to be useful no matter what your members play.
